Letter From Your Chair

My Dearest,

Being a sista is a beautiful thing in and of itself. Being a sista AND a Black Girl Florist is an absolute honor. We’re grateful to have you as part of our organization and are blessed to have you by our sides!

We’ve come together at varying points in our journeys as florists, to be a collective resource of encouragement and support, continuing to follow our passions and support our families. As we continue to tread this path, let us walk gracefully through doors that were once closed, leaving them open for another Black Girl Florist.

We all know that as gratifying being a florist is, it is still a business that requires hard work and financial planning. The current climate of the world makes it no easier. With the current inflation we’re experiencing, costs for goods have risen. This includes costs for shipping, flowers, and other essentials we use. Additionally, many farmers are still behind with growing and sourcing due to pandemic shutdowns. This interferes with timelines of delivery and even quality of product.

I want to remind you, if you have not already, please review your pricing to ensure that you’re still at a maintainable price point. Without doing so, these rising prices could easily cut into your profits.

Even with that, we shall not be discouraged! What I know is that historically we know how to navigate any and all circumstances to accomplish what we aim to. Right Queens?! (Hand on hip…Finger snap).

We have a fantastic year to look forward to with the conference, fundraiser, and more. Your contribution and effort are vital to us individually, as a whole, and as an organization and we continue to look forward to a bright future together!

Thank you for everything that you have done and have yet to do!

Sincerely and Respectfully,

Kateen “Teena” Morris
